Japanese firm Arysta LifeScience Monday announced it has acquired a majority of the shares of Devidayal Sales Limited (DSL). DSL is a formulator and marketer of agrochemicals and micronutrients for the Indian and international markets. Operating from primary offices in Mumbai and Vadodara, India, the company has a distribution network of over 7,000 channel partners across the country.
Wayne Hewett, President and CEO, Arysta LifeScience Corporation commented that Arysta LifeScience continues to grow its business by focusing its investment and strategic initiatives in high-growth, emerging markets. Hewett noted that by combining Arysta’s portfolio of global products and technologies with DSL’s manufacturing and distribution network for the Indian market, the firm will be well placed to serve customers in India as well as other international markets.
DSL operates a formulation and packing facility in Kalol, Gujarat, India that maintains specialized, small-pack capability to serve small holding growers in India and other emerging markets.
Soo Keong Tan, Arysta LifeScience Business Unit Head, South Asia & China, said the DSL investment provides Arysta LifeScience with a platform for rapid entry into India, the third largest crop protection market in Asia. According to Keong, Arysta LifeScience expects to capitalize on DSL’s professional skill to accelerate the registration and introduction of its proprietary products and technology to the Indian market.
Further to that, Keong reiterated that Arysta sees significant opportunity to leverage DSL formulation and pack capabilities to better serve Arysta’s customers outside India.
DSL, previously a family owned company, is a formulator and marketer of pesticides, agrochemicals and micronutrients in India and international markets. DSL is amongst the top 10 privately owned agrochemical companies in India. The Company operates 26 branch offices and 36 stock points across India as well as a formulation and packaging plant in Kalol, Gujarat, India.
