Union Tourism Minister Subodhkant Sahai met Japanese Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure Mr. Jin Matsubara in Tokyo today. During the meeting with Japanese Minister Shri Sahai discussed opportunities for investment in tourism infrastructure in India to which Japanese government responded positively and conveyed that they are more keen to invest in Buddhist and Medical Tourism in India. Japanese Minister conveyed Japanese MNC’s opinion that India has huge potential to grow tourism in Buddhist and Medical Tourism sector and investment in this sector will pay huge dividends to both the countries.
People of Japan are fond of travelling and Medical Tourism will boost travel and trade relations between both the countries as Japan having highest elderly population in the world sees India as an attractive destination for medical tourism which can be packaged along with pilgrimage in Buddhist sector. Japanese Minister emphasized the importance of Indian medical systems like Yoga and Ayurveda as both are immensely popular in Japan.He showed keen interest in having more yoga centers in Japan. Shri Sahai reviewed of the activities of India tourism office in Tokyo. Indian Ambassador in Japan shri Alok Prasad informed Shri Sahai, that this year India is celebrating 60th year of diplomatic relations with japan and India is the theme of Snow festival in Japan and a Tajmahal made of ice will be replicated in this festival. Shri Sahai assured informed that Indian cultural troupe will participate in the festival and Indian cousins would also be displayed.
