  • India-Peru: Fifth round of Trade Negotiations held in New Delhi

    India and Peru on Thursday had another next round of negotiations for proposed free-trade agreement (FTA), aimed at boosting two-way commerce and investments. This is the fifth round of negotiations.

     

    The previous round took place in the Lima, where the agenda for discussions included the market access for good, movement of professionals and procedures for customs.

  • A new foreign trade policy on the anvil: Official

    The Commerce Ministry will soon come out with a new foreign trade policy, which provides guidelines and incentives for increasing exports for the next five financial years 2020-25, an official said.

     

    The Ministry is giving final touches to the new policy as the validity for the old one will end on March 31, 2020.

  • PM Modi begins three-nation trip, says engagements will strengthen India's relations with time-tested friends

    A head of his visit to France, the UAE and Bahrain, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the engagements will strengthen India's relations with time-tested friends and help explore new areas of cooperation.

     

    Prime Minister Modi will visit the three countries from August 22 to 26. He will reach France on Thursday.

  • Maharashtra government gives in-principle nod for Food Processing Programme

    The Maharashtra government has agreed to develop in close cooperation from the Centre the Agro-Food Processing and Value Addition (Pilot) Programme in the state. The project will be implemented in 200 districts across the country. In Maharashtra, this project will be implemented in Nandurbar, Gadchiroli, Washim and Osmanabad.

     

  • Seven member committee formed to issue IGST related problems for exporters

    In a big breather for city based exporters who are facing the problem of delay in the processing of integrated GST (IGST) refund and other problems related to customs department, a seven member committee comprising of IRS officers of customs commissionerate Ludhiana and city businessmen has been formed which will work on solving these issues.

    India is developing an index to rank eight of its major trading partners and countries it is pursuing free trade agreements (FTA) with, to gauge their restrictiveness to cross-border movement of professionals, a crucial area of interest for the country. 

     

  • India, Myanmar likely to set up four Border Haats

    The success of the Border Haats with Bangladesh has prompted other northeastern states of India to go for similar arrangements with Myanmar. At the instance of the Mizoram government, the Centre is likely to set up four Border Haats (market) along the border with Myanmar to boost local trade and livelihood of the people living there.

    India and Kenya on Tuesday discussed ways to further trade ties by exploring opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, ICT and metals, the commerce ministry said.
