The Union Minister for Steel, Shri Beni Prasad Verma has reviewed the Quarter 4 and Financial year 2012-13 performance of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) here today.
The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas inched up to US$ 102.50/per barrel (bbl) on 20.05.2013. This was higher than the price of US$ 101.96/bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of 17.05.2013.

The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 was enacted in 2006 and has come in force on 2.1.2007. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is the nodal Ministry for implementation of the Act. The Ministry has notified the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Rules, 2007 on 1.1.2008 and the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Amendment Rules, 2012 on 6.9.2012.
Out of the total earnings of Rs. 7477.30 crore from commodity-wise freight traffic during the month of April 2013, Rs. 3420.74 crore generated from transportation of 42.96 million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs. 604.13 crore from 8.90 million tonnes of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 748.94 crore from 9.27 million tonnes of cement, Rs. 729.94 crore from 4.62 million tonnes of foodgrains, Rs. 426.18 crore from 3.33 million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs.

Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare India, ShriGhulamNabi Azad and Secretary of State for Health, UK, Mr. Jeremy Richard Hunt signed an MOU on cooperation in the field of health sector last evening at Geneva between the Government of India and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Describing the agreement as a historic event and a great milestone, Shri Azad noted with optimism that this agreement is going to usher in a new era of cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.

The 45th session of the Indian Labour Conference began in New Delhi today with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh laying emphasis on need to focus particularly on the well being and welfare of migrant workers, domestic workers and those working in unsafe conditions. These groups not only need special legislative support but also a more effective implementation of the existing laws that have been made for their protection and wellbeing. He said we need to bring in the best international practices for bringing about improvements in their working conditions.

The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas have reviewed international prices of crude oil and petroleum products during the Ist Fortnight of May 2013. Accordingly, the under-recovery on High Speed Diesel (HSD) applicable for 2nd fortnight of May effective 16.05.2013 has declined slightly to Rs 3.73 per/litre.
India and the US will further expand co-operation in knowledge sector. This was announced by the HRD Minister Dr. Pallam Raju during a round table discussion on Advances in US-India Academic Partnership in Washington. Dr. Raju who is leading an Indian delegation said that eight more awards have been finalized under the Singh-Obama Knowledge Initiative and it will be jointly announced during the forthcoming Indo-US strategic dialogue in New Delhi next month. Eight such awards were announced last year.
